The National Strategies are a national programme focussed on raising pupil attainment by improving the quality of teaching and learning for children between 3 and 16 years old in England.
Specifically this involves:
§ improving the quality of teaching and learning in all schools;
§ improving the effectiveness of the management and leadership of schools in order to deliver the best possible outcomes for learners.
National Strategies sits within the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and has been managed by Capita for the Department since April 2005. When Capita took over the National Strategies contract this involved the transfer of over 300 staff, roughly half of whom make up the educational field force with the other half comprising the operational support services team based in Reading.
