Tackling under-performance is an important organisational responsibility. This can be done informally at a line management level, but there are occasions when disciplinary and grievance procedures must be used.

  • Understand the legal requirements of disciplinary and grievance action to avoid problems escalating 
  • Ensure you use the ‘nip it in the bud’ method when possible 
  • Understanding the importance of following company procedures, thus avoiding negative results 
  • Manage all disciplinary interviews in a fair and consistent manner 
  • Create a positive working environment to lower stress and help create an effective team.
Anyone who has responsibility for maintaining standards, hearing grievances, conducting investigations, or holding disciplinary interviews and appeals.
  • Discussion of pre-course reading materials 
  • Company policy and procedures and legal responsibilities 
  • The role of ACAS and employment tribunals 
  • Conducting professional disciplinary interviews at all stages of the disciplinary and grievance procedure 
  • The importance of factual evidence relating to the said misconduct
  • The role of the employee companion/union representative 
  • Creating the appropriate structure for the disciplinary interview 
  • Using various questioning and listening techniques to gain the fuller picture 
  • Creating an atmosphere that will encourage positive responses from all involved 
  • The appropriate use of adjournments during disciplinary interviews 
  • The importance of accurate note-taking 
  • Dealing with emotion and sensitive issues during the disciplinary and grievance process 
  • Practical sessions using case studies and role plays 
  • The majority of the day will involve practice sessions and activity to develop confidence in handling meetings.

Payment:
Must be made in full no later than 14 working days prior to the course start date.

Transfers:
The following charges will apply if you wish to transfer your booking to a later course date:
21+ working days before a course = 0% of the course fee
5-20 working days before a course = 50% of the course fee
1-4 working days before a course = 100% of the course fee

Substitute delegates:
You can transfer a place on a course to a substitute delegate free of charge.

Cancellations:
The following charges will apply if you wish to cancel a course:
21+ working days before a course = 20%
1-20 working days before a course = 100%

Cancellations must be received in writing via email to courses@capita-ld.co.uk and must contain the full booking details including organisation name, booking and delegate contact details.
