Patricia Leighton is Professor Emeritus and former Jean Monnet Professor of European Law at the University of Glamorgan, Wales, UK. Pat has also been a Visiting Professor at the College of Europe, Bruges for whom she has recently undertaken a number of EC funded projects and has worked with EU applicant states in the field of employment policy and law.
Pat has undertaken many research projects for international and national governments, including the ILO, the European Commission and UK government departments, for private sector organisations and professional bodies, including CIPD. Pat has also been a consultant and trainer to many professional bodies and individual employers. Her work has focused on employment relationships and on diversity and opportunity at work.
Pat has published sixteen books and has written many articles.
One of her recent works is ‘Out of the Shadows: Managing Self-employed, Agency and Outsourced Workers’, co-authored by Michel Syrett, Robert Hecker and Peter Holland, and published by Butterworth Heinemann in 2006.
Other published works include ‘Effective Recruitment: A Practical Guide to Staying Within the Law, 2nd Edition’, co-authored by Giles Proctor, and published by Thorogood in 2009; and ‘European Employment Law’, published by Thorogood in June 2010.
