Professional Email Writing

This course will develop your email writing skills to a high professional standard. Participants will be able to write more succinctly and get their point across more clearly for the ‘users’ of their writing.

This event is aimed at people who want to make the most of email and use it professionally in email marketing campaigns, for example. Participants are asked to bring with them samples of their emails which can be used as personal case studies.
  • Famous email bloopers - what can go wrong? Create a S.W.O.T. analysis for e-mail communication
  • Hierarchy of communication – 4 levels – where does email fit with legality and use
  • Levels of language – what is appropriate in emails

o Salutation
o Beginnings and endings to create the right impression
o Emoticons, text language
o Tone, personal disclosure and email etiquette

  • Organising your inbox to keep less than 50 items in it

o There are only 4 types of emails – what are they?
o Developing a logical and easy to use filing system
o Archiving/auto archive

  • Reply to all – use and abuse
  • To and cc protocol
  • Using the subject field to best effect
  • Auto-signature best practice and giving your emails a professional ‘look’ – style guide
  • Quick thinking and planning tools - 3W’s and pattern diagrams
  • Writing: best practice - sentence length, choice of words, less complex expressions, giving your writing energy, active versus passive voice
  • Edit: how to critique your own writing objectively – a 5 point plan
  • Time savers and management systems n Email quiz – how effective are you?

Payment:
Must be made in full no later than 14 working days prior to the course start date.

Transfers:
The following charges will apply if you wish to transfer your booking to a later course date:
21+ working days before a course = 0% of the course fee
5-20 working days before a course = 50% of the course fee
1-4 working days before a course = 100% of the course fee

Substitute delegates:
You can transfer a place on a course to a substitute delegate free of charge.

Cancellations:
The following charges will apply if you wish to cancel a course:
21+ working days before a course = 20%
1-20 working days before a course = 100%

Cancellations must be received in writing via email to courses@capita-ld.co.uk and must contain the full booking details including organisation name, booking and delegate contact details.
