Essential performance management

Performance management begins when a job role is defined, and ends when an employee leaves an organisation. The core characteristics of performance management comprise:

  • Translating organisation/corporate goals into departmental, divisional, team and individual goals
  • Communicating business plans and progress in achieving objectives
  • Creating a shared understanding of what is required to improve performance and how to achieve it
  • Maintaining an open and honest management style that encourages 2-way communication
  • Encouraging the self-management of individual performance
  • Assessing performance against jointly agreed goals
  • This course focuses on the core elements in performance management and clarifies what should happen between inducting a new starter and their ultimate departure from the organisation.

The course is suitable for anyone who is responsible for the effective performance of individuals and teams.
  • The importance of clear job descriptions as a framework for understanding role expectations
  • The necessary skills and knowledge to enable good performance to be demonstrably identified against key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • How to give effective, motivational and developmental feedback and how to conduct performance reviews
  • Set achievable goals and expectations for your team
  • Deal with issues as they arise and avoid escalating problems
  • Design an appropriate appraisal scheme
  • Consider the implications of required role competences
  • The manager’s central role in helping staff to develop to their full potential

Payment:
Must be made in full no later than 14 working days prior to the course start date.

Transfers:
The following charges will apply if you wish to transfer your booking to a later course date:
21+ working days before a course = 0% of the course fee
5-20 working days before a course = 50% of the course fee
1-4 working days before a course = 100% of the course fee

Substitute delegates:
You can transfer a place on a course to a substitute delegate free of charge.

Cancellations:
The following charges will apply if you wish to cancel a course:
21+ working days before a course = 20%
1-20 working days before a course = 100%

Cancellations must be received in writing via email to courses@capita-ld.co.uk and must contain the full booking details including organisation name, booking and delegate contact details.
