As part of wider ten year HR and Payroll partnership between Southampton City Council and Capita, Capita Learning & Development is working with the Council to deliver cost effective and enhanced services.
The learning and development team has been involved in a considerable amount of transformation activity since April 2008 and through the use of ‘LEAN’ approaches and ‘systems theories’ are successfully changing a whole range of processes by focussing on what is valued by the customer and removing ‘waste’.
The value delivered in this project includes:
Strategic consultancy - Introducing revised systems and processes for commissioning and delivering learning and ‘challenging’ the need for design and development of new material and promoting re-use is having a significant affect on the drive for cost efficiencies
Service transformation
- Increased control through improved processes includes quarterly forecasting, planning and reporting processes
Course design, development and delivery - Access to Capita Learning & Development’s market tested IP-owned public scheduled training material delivers flexible learning content with proven capability
Learning administration - A revised learning administration system using an intranet-based single portal saves staff time in searching for and booking training and promotes a self-service approach; the portal also integrates with Southampton’s HR system.
