A Government website is advising firms to look closely at their employment contracts because many can avoid giving staff paid time off to celebrate the Royal Wedding. The BusinessLink.gov.uk service said the decision to mark the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton on April 29 with a public holiday had left employers wondering if they had any wriggle room. The site tells employers they are under no obligation to provide additional paid leave under the European Working Time regulations. It all depends on the wording of individual contracts.
