Information Commissioner Alarm bells must now ring in every boardroom

The UK’s Information Commissioner has issued a stark warning to all businesses and public organisations that they must take the security of personal information more seriously. In a week that saw the bank account and address details of millions of individuals being lost by HM Revenue and Customs, the Information Commissioner reminded businesses in an article in The Independent newspaper that they must have data protection safeguards in place that are “technically robust and idiot proof”.
