New Partnership will Promote Skills and Standards

A new partnership aimed at developing management and leadership skills and helping pursue recognized national standards has been created by the Management Standards Centre and SkillsActive, the Sector Skills Council for Active Leisure and Learning.

The partnership will enable the two organisations to develop and maintain the National Occupational Standards for Management and Leadership across the Skills for Business Network (SfBN).  It follows two years of collaboration between SkillsActive and the Management Standards Centre (MSC), an organisation within the Chartered Management Institute.

The partnership will spur a series of initiatives that will affect employers and the SSC community, as well as address critical leadership skills across all sectors.  Proposed  activities include the development of an NOS toolkit for use by partners within the SfBN and wider management community, and an employers’ guide for management and leadership standards.  The partners also intend to engage with the higher- and further-education communities to promote the development of management and leadership skills with ongoing learning.

“This joint venture will provide the Skills for Business Network with access to information and resources which will help to promote and add value to the management and leadership standards,” said Stephen Studd, chief executive of SkillsActive.
