Introduction to leadership


This programme concentrates on increasing awareness of appropriate use of different leadership styles, combining indoor training with practical outdoor sessions that enable skills to be developed and refined. Performance will be reviewed and individual feedback received.

This two or three-day course provides delegates with the critical attitudes, behaviours, confidence and experience necessary to fully develop their leadership ability. It will enable delegates to become effective team leaders and contribute more significantly to the success of your organisation.

 
Who will benefit from taking part?
Individuals who need to develop their skills, knowledge and behaviours in order to enable them to effectively lead in the work environment.

  • Graduates and those selected for potential fast track development, who wish to develop their knowledge and understanding of a leadership role.
  • Individuals who already have responsibility for leading teams, have been recently promoted to, or who will soon take on, team leaders or supervisory roles and who require the enhanced knowledge and understanding of their new responsibilities.
  • Potential team leaders and section supervisors who will benefit from being provided with the correct tools, enabling them to face the coming challenges.

Objectives
Depending on the start point of a particular team and the length of the course, by the end of the programme individuals will have achieved their key outcomes as selected from the following list:

Practical outdoor tasks and challenges

  • Icebreakers and dynamics
  • Leadership scenarios
  • Practical Leadership exercises
  • All delegates will have the opportunity to lead a number of tasks giving opportunity for refinement and further skill acquisition.

Feedback and coaching

  • Practice giving and receiving feedback on individual performance
  • Develop personal action plan.

Accommodation includes – single ensuite rooms, breakfast, lunch and evening meal, all necessary outdoor equipment and basic insurance. N.B. Prices based on groups of 10. Smaller groups and Individual bookings for open programmes will incur a higher ‘per delegate’ fee
